Spring Retreat A Recap

Spring has arrived and LBY is in full swing with our annual Spring Retreats!  This past weekend, March 26-27th, we met in Lonestar Texas for the 2011 Spring Retreat A with 90 students and leaders in attendance from 12 churches.  Archway Worship Band from Dallas led our worship services and Josh Mensinger, also from Dallas, was our guest speaker.

This year we returned to the beautiful Lakeview Baptist Assembly campus surrounded by tall pine trees and located on a pristine lake.  The retreat schedule consisted of opportunities for fun such as silly icebreaker games, fun team building activities, and free time offering volleyball and basketball.  But it wasn’t all fun and games as students were engaged in devotional groups and evangelistic training sessions.  The open mic session was a time of praise to the Lord as church groups and individuals offered songs and testimonies of God’s goodness in their life.  There were also powerful worship services with music led by the Archway worship band and guest speaker Josh Mensinger.  Josh, a former muslim, shared his personal testimony as well as a message about cultivating a burden for the gospel to get out to those who are lost.

New friendships and many lasting memories were made.  The weekend ended with everyone sharing hugs as they said goodbye to one another.  Renewed and refreshed, students go back home ready to obey our Lord’s command to go and make disciples of all nations and to impact our city!
