About

Objective

LBY is a ministry to Lao churches equipping and empowering her leaders to be more effective in the ministry of the Gospel of Jesus Christ.  Our objective is to strengthen local churches by providing ministry resource tools, leadership development, networking, and fellowship through annual youth retreats.  We seek to fulfill the Great Commission and bring Glory to God through all we do.

STATEMENT OF FAITH

We affirm the Holy Bible as the inspired Word of God and the basis for our beliefs. We covenant together as a body of baptized believers in Jesus Christ personally committed to sharing the good news of salvation to the lost. We affirm The Baptist Faith and Message (as adopted by the Southern Baptist Convention) as our statement of doctrine and guide to a biblically based life- style.

Ministries

Annual retreats/conferences are a vital part of our ministry. They allow us to network with other Lao churches while enjoying a weekend of high energy activities, great worship, powerful preaching, and life changing experiences.  During the spring we host two retreats, one in the Texas/Oklahoma region and another in the TN/Arkansas region.  Also, on Labor Day weekend we come together and host our largest retreat of the year. In recent years, LBY saw roughly 185 campers at Labor Day and 100 campers at Spring Retreat annually with 13 different churches represented.  During the summer, we host a leadership development training at the Lao Southern Baptist Fellowship Conference.  Check out our photos section to see pictures and videos from our retreats.  We hope you can join us at the next retreat!

History

The calling began in late Spring of ’94 at the annual Lao Southern Baptist Fellowship Conference when two women, Pon Hacksisombat and Supit Inthapom, recognized that there was a need for a youth organization. The idea was presented and quickly spread in favor among the congrega- tion. The following Labor Day was the first gathering in Glen Rose, TX, led by Hatt Chan as the first LBY president. Ever since then, God has showed LBY favor by providing workers to reap the plentiful harvest.   Many young people have come to salvation in Christ, called to ministry, and encouraged by the fellowship and love that is evident at every LBY retreat.  A special thank you to those where felt a burden many years ago and followed in obedience to start this ministry.

We look forward to seeing what the Lord has in store for us in the future!
